Gedragscode

This code applies to everyone involved in a DEUS course or event: participants, faculty, organisers, volunteers, models, sponsors and suppliers. It applies to on-site courses, online sessions and social programmes that are part of the course.

What we expect from you

• Be honest, and take responsibility for what you do.
• Treat everyone with respect, whatever their gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, religion, age, disability, appearance or body size.
• Help keep the course a place where people feel free to ask questions and make mistakes. That is how people learn.
• Follow the instructions of the course director and faculty.
• Follow the law of the country where the course takes place, and DEUS policies.
• Report any behaviour that worries you to the course director.

Filming, photos and recordings

Filming during DEUS courses is not allowed. This includes lectures, hands-on sessions and online sessions. It also applies to smart glasses and other wearables with a built-in camera. Do not wear them in the course rooms.

Photos and audio recordings are also not allowed unless a faculty member has given you permission. Never photograph or record a model or patient, or an ultrasound image that could identify them.

We have two reasons for this. First, models and patients are entitled to their privacy, and the images we make during scanning are medical data. Second, the course material and the teaching belong to DEUS and its faculty.

DEUS sometimes takes photos for its own website and social media. We will tell you when that happens. If you do not want to be photographed, tell the organisers and we will leave you out.

Models and patients

Scanning practice depends on people who let us scan them. Ask before you touch, keep them covered where you can, and stop the moment they ask you to. If you see something that could be abnormal, do not discuss it with the model. Tell the faculty member, who will handle it.

Sponsors and conflicts of interest

Our courses are made possible in part by industry partners, but the content is decided by DEUS and its faculty alone. Faculty report any relevant ties with industry in advance. Nobody may offer, give or accept payments, gifts or favours meant to influence a decision, whether with DEUS, its customers, sponsors or public officials.

What we will not accept

• Harassment, bullying or intimidation, in person or online
• Sexual harassment, sexual exploitation or abuse
• Discrimination
• Fraud, theft or misuse of equipment, funds or materials
• Bribery, corruption, nepotism or abuse of position
• Filming or recording in breach of the rules above

This list is not complete. If someone breaks this code, the course director can issue a warning, remove the person from the session, or remove them from the course without a refund. Recordings made against these rules must be deleted.

Reporting a concern

If something happens that you think goes against this code, talk to the course director or any faculty member you trust. You can also email info@deus.nl. For a formal complaint, use our complaint procedure. We will treat your report confidentially.
